As part of your portrait experience, I want you to feel confident & educated on the details each step of the way. Custom portraiture is a truly valuable investment & I want each of my clients to know exactly what to expect from start to finish. Here is a list of my most frequently asked questions, but if you don't see your question below or have any other question, please contact me.

What exactly is included in my session fee? And what is a "collection"?
A session fee is the payment that you make to reserve your date. My current session fee is $250, and this includes a 10% donation to a local organization we are currently supporting. The entire Session Fee is due at the time of booking. Your session includes up to two hours of on location photography, your custom Welcome Package, a set of watermarked images for sharing on social media & a minimum of 30 professional, hand edited images to choose from.

A Collection is what you order after your session. There are four Collections to choose from. These collections include a variety of products meant to suit every client & home. Should a Collection not be a perfect fit, we also offer a complete a la carte menu. A la carte items may also be added to a Collection at a 15% discount. A beautifully printed & detailed pricing and product guide is provided in each Welcome Package after booking. Orders are placed through a personal Design Consult after your session to help you decide on the best items for you & your home.

What is a Design Consult? Don’t you just send me my portraits?
While many photographers choose the "Shoot & Burn" method of photography, I believe in providing clients an exceptional experience from start to finish, that is as intimate and personal as I can make it. That includes custom Welcome Packages, session planning conversations and the most important - your post-session Design Consult & Personal Ordering Session.

This meeting will take place approximately 2-3 weeks after your session and it will be the first time you are viewing your portraits. During this consult, we will discuss how you plan to display your portraits, if you are interested in an album and everything in between.

You'll be able to run your fingers over the beautiful albums & cover options, see first hand how stunning our Signature Heirloom boxes are (included with most Collections) and have me there to help you navigate the product guide, thoroughly understand the pricing & offer advice on what will work best for your home.

Due to the nature of these consults, when possible, it is ideal to meet at your home. That way I can see your wall space, take some measurements and give the most educated advice possible. For clients that live at a distance, this consult can take place over Skype.

I have no idea where to go or what to wear. Help!
Choosing a perfect location & outfit to match can be scary & exhausting. All clients receive the option of a pre-session consult. This can take place in person over coffee or over the phone/Skype. We discuss in detail everything from what to wear to where your session should take place. This is also a wonderful opportunity to pick each others brains on the type of portraits you are hoping to get out of your session with me. I want you to show up at your session, ready to go with clear expectations. Your detailed Welcome Package will also have helpful guides and I'm always just a phone call or email away!

Does "natural light" photography mean my session has to be outside?
Natural light photography doesn't mean we have to be outside - it just means I don't use artificial lighting. Flashes and studio lights create a certain style of photography that just isn't me. I prefer to work outdoors or inside near a window. If your session is taking place at home, or anywhere else indoors, upon my arrival I will scope out the area and help you find the best spot to take your portraits in.

Are you an eco-friendly business?
When deciding what products to offer my clients, one of the most important aspects to me, was finding beautifully crafted items that were also eco-friendly and sustainably sourced. I am happy to say that currently ALL of the products in our line come from recycled and eco-friendly materials such as organic fabrics & reclaimed barn wood.

It says that 10% of my session fee is being donated? Who is receiving this money and how does this work?
A cause that is near & dear to my heart, is that all families can receive access to education, art & community resources. I select three organizations every year to donate to. You can learn more about them here.

At the end of each month, I add up all of the donations and split it evenly between the organizations. I then write a check & pop it in the mail. It takes minutes out of my day, but can benefit each community greatly. You can also make a donation directly HERE.

I am interested in a newborn session, do you use any sort of typical props?
It's my goal to provide every client with timeless portraits that will still be beautiful for generations to come. I try to avoid anything trend and instead focus on capturing the beautiful, natural, authentic moments that take place between a newborn & the new parents. These moments are intimate & your portraits should reflect that. I ask parents to refrain from using newborn costumes and will not use any props.

I am interested in both a maternity and newborn session, do you offer kind of discount or package deal?
Of course! The Motherhood Collection is an inclusive collection that includes three sessions (maternity, newborn & 1 Year) and an Heirloom Album to commemorate your first year of motherhood. This Collection is $1,500 (save over $500)

What is the difference between an Heirloom Album & a Session Album?
Our Heirloom Album is a flush mount style. This means the albums are printed with a large format giclee printing method. Each print is then creased and bound to a mat board to give each page a thick, study and archival feel, allowing each page to lay flat when opened so that every detail of your images shines. It is the highest quality album we offer and includes an organic cotton slipcover to protect it for ages.
Our Session Album is press printed using eco-based toner on a digital press. These albums feature lay flat pages similar to the Heirloom Album.

I'm ready to book... what do I do now?
Once you've decided I'm the right photographer for you - we'll start the booking process. We'll have a few conversations discussing what you are looking for in your portraits and get to know each other better. It's important that we are on the same page every step of the way and that you know exactly what to expect from your portrait session.

From there, we will discuss a session date and I'll send you a link to your online contract. The contract collects all the information that is needed and goes over studio polices in great detail (such as weather cancellation, etc). Once the contract is signed, I will send you an invoice for the Session Retainer ($125). After payment is received and your contract is signed, I will mail you a Welcome Package with our 2015 Product Guide, session planning tips and some other little surprises.

The remaining session fee balance ($125) will be due in full 7 days prior to your sessions date. You will receive an online invoice to make this payment via email.
